For me, this comes from my pure desire to support our military and aid our wounded in a time when politics seems to take precedence. Inspired by the book “Lone Survivor”, by Marcus Luttrell, and by Bob Woodruff’s (GMA) experience, the Civilian Coin Challenge challenges civilians to express their gratitude directly to military personnel by continuing a military tradition of presenting a coin as a badge of honor. The coin represents American civilian recognition of honor, respect, and gratitude to U.S. Military personnel for what they do for every American civilian. The profit from the sale of the Civilian Coin Challenge coins will be donated to improve medical care for wounded military personnel. The presentation of Civilian Coin Challenge coins to U.S. military throughout the country will not only send a message to our military that they are respected, appreciated, and in our thoughts but also will help to provide medical care to those who require it after serving. Coins can be presented to an active, honorably discharged, or retired military person. They are a special presentation to military family and friends and are an unexpected sign of appreciation when presented to unknown military personnel when you see them in a restaurant, an airport, or just walking on the street. The presentation of a coin can be recorded with the foundation by emailing the sequential coin number and the recipient name to info@moorefamilyfoundation.info. I know that this project can make a big difference. For the price of each coin, one military person can receive the gratitude of a civilian and both the civilian and recipient can know that the proceeds will go to help improve care for the wounded. This is designed to be affordable to most people, the price being equivalent to a few candy bars, sodas, beers, or packs of cigarettes, a small sacrifice to show our gratitude and support. This project is personal, a “have to” not a “want to”, a “calling”. I have three jobs and certainly don’t need something else to do. Being an individual who could never have entered the military, it is my way of honoring not only my father but also every person who either has served or does serve in our military. Honestly, I am an average American who does not have the contacts necessary to make this visible on a national level. I do not want anything for myself personally but I am shamelessly asking for any help you can provide in getting the word out about this project.
